A little bird told me there are offers out to Jake Gyllenhaal and Jeff Bridges to star in COMANCHERIA. The action/thriller is about two brothers who try to save their family’s farm by planning a number of bank heists, all while outsmarting a pair of determined Texas Rangers.
Gyllenhaal would play one of the brothers, a divorced father of two who is presumably talked into this life of crime by his ex-con brother, while Bridges will hopefully be putting on a badge as a Texas Ranger who is just a few short weeks away from retirement.
Last week TB had the exclusive that the film will be directed by Marc Forster off of a script by Taylor Sheridan. You can find that exclusive here. Sarah Aubrey, Peter Berg, and Sidney Kimmel are producing through Film 44 and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.
If these two stars attach themselves to the project, which now has a solid director, we will hopefully see this script, which was on the 2012 Hit List and Black List, finally gets some legs and make its way to the big screen.
Bridges was just in “R.I.P.D.” and can be seen in the upcoming “Seventh Son.” Gyllenhaal was most recently in “End Of Watch” and will be starring in “Prisoners” due out later this year.
