Leonardo DiCaprio and Joby Harold have teamed up to produce Harold’s new spec ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS. Plot details are being kept tightly under lock and key, but the film is said to tell an original origin story of the classic heroic outlaw Robin Hood. Harold’s Safehouse Pictures and DiCaprio’s Appian Way are attached to produce the project.
I’m hearing that the spec is quickly making its way up the ladder at both Sony and Warner Bros., which comes as no surprise given that Safehouse Pictures has a two-year overall deal with Columbia Pictures and Appian Way is tied with Warner.
Harold was one of the many writers that contributed to 2014’s sci-fi darling Edge of Tomorrow. The high-profile writer/producer’s knack for scripting high-concept fantasy worlds has landed him with several projects in the works at both Warner Bros. and Columbia/Sony. Harold scripted Guy Ritchie’s forthcoming Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur, which stars Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law, and Eric Bana. He also wrote the upcoming Atlantis Rising adaptation and the action/horror Army of the Dead, which is being produced by Zak and Deborah Snyder.
Harold has a slew of upcoming titles that he’s producing, including, the I Am Legend reboot, the Space Invaders adaptation, and The Falling, which stars Zac Efron. He’ll also serve as an executive producer on Stanley Tucci’s Mommy & Me, which stars Meryl Streep and Tina Fey.
DiCaprio previously worked with Harold when the scribe submitted an early draft of the upcoming Twilight Zone movie, which he’s producing. He’s next set to produce The Deep Blue Good-By, which stars Christian Bale, and an untitled Woodrow Wilson biopic for Warner Bros, for which he will also star.
DiCaprio is repped by LBI Entertainment.
