I have gotten word that Louis Leterrier has signed on to direct UNTITLED NATHAN SMITH for 20th Century Fox and Davis Entertainment. The story will be based on an article from Texas Monthly by Skip Hallandsworth about an out-of-work musician from California who stumbles across the possible site of a fabled Spanish shipwreck in Melon Lake.
No writer has been attached yet, but Aaron Janus, Ira Napoliello, and Maresa Pullman are overseeing the project as executives.
Leterrier is probably best known for directing “Now You See Me,” though my personal favorite of his is “Unleashed” which I believe is incredibly under-rated. Due to the success “Now You See Me” Leterrier is now working on it’s sequel as well as a number of other projects that look to be taking precedent over “Nathan Smith,” but only time will tell.
