〉 Color Force will produce the multi-generational female comedy
Fox 2000 and Color Force are in development with the original comedy BIRTH MOM. The heartfelt fish-out-of-water story is being produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson for Color Force, with Marisa Paiva overseeing for Fox 2000. The project is being developed under Color Force’s first-look deal with the studio.
The story centers on an adopted young woman who, after being raised in a stuffy, upper-crust household, sets out to find her birth mother–only to discover that she’s a total disaster. In the vein of Hope Floats, The Devil Wears Prada and Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, the story is expected to be an emotionally-driven, female-centric dramedy.
As for Color Force, their principal Jacobson is prepping for the release of the film that is widely expected to rule the end-of-the-year box office, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part II. Her involvement with Birth Mom could be enough to snag some big-name talent for the yet-to-be-cast project.
For now, producers are searching for the right scribe to bring Birth Mom to fruition.
