Octavia Spencer is making headlines again as reports indicate she’s attached to star in the inspirational film ROAD SIGNS. This comes after recent news that she’s also signed on for a role in “Insurgent,” and has a new Fox sitcom “Red Band Society” due out this fall.
“Road Signs” revolves around the trials and tribulations of an IRS auditor and his estranged relationship with his son. Once a guardian angel (presumably Spencer) interferes with the auditor’s destiny, she is given one week to repair his life and help him forge a relationship with his 13 year-old.
Revolution Studios paid six figures for the pitch by Steven Rogers over a decade ago, but was unable to get the project off the ground. It is currently set up at Hertzberg Media, and producers are again looking for studio backing.
Spencer became a household name following the success of “The Help,” winning an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA Award for her performance. She has been a consistently working actress for the last twenty years, however, with numerous supporting roles in both TV and Film, including “Fruitvale Station,” “Spiderman,” “Being John Malkovich” and many more. She currently has two films in development and another four waiting to be released.
