I’m getting word that Paramount Pictures’ recent spec purchase GINNY has found its director. Peyton Reed (Yes Man, The Break-Up) has signed on to helm from Andrew Weinberg’s script.
The story follows Ginny, the black sheep of her insanely wealthy family, who falls madly in love with a scheming con-artist and blindly becomes involved in his plans to embezzle her family’s massive fortune. Reed should be ecstatic right now to work with Weinberg’s script as he created Adult Swim’s hilarious “Eagleheart” and wrote for Conan O’Brien for close to 10 years.
Although his first directing gig was the short film “Almost Beat”, Reed’s career in features began as an assistant property master and location manager. The early 2000’s saw the cheerleading comedy “Bring It On” (Reed’s first feature project as director) and “Down with Love.” In 2006 and 2008, he helmed “The Break-Up” and “Yes Man” respectively. Lately Reed has been dipping his feet in the TV pond, helming a few episodes of Fox’s “New Girl”, the TV-movie “To My Future Assistant” and most recently executive producing “The Goodwin Games.”
Reed is repped by WME.
