It’s recently been confirmed that is attached to star in the PRIVATE BENJAMIN remake at . is along to produce, and the film is still planned to revolve around the trials and tribulations of a new female army recruit. The project at one point had Anna Farris attached to star, but have since moved in an entirely new direction for the part. Taking on the classic Goldie Hawn role would be a huge opportunity for Wilson, and would be a huge notch under her belt as she is rapidly becoming one of the most successful female comedians today.

The original film starring Goldie Hawn came out in 1980, and has stood the test of time, even inspiring a spin-off series. The new film would be a very interesting take on this classic story, but I think it could be done without alienating the original fans. As long as the story has comedic and deeper, serious elements to it (as the original did) it will still have the gravitas to stay relevant amidst the Hollywood re-make machine. Wilson has shown her ability to jump between the dramatic and comedic with her ABC television show “Super Fun Night,” and although Wilson and Goldie Hawn are two are different physical types, you could see how both could struggle to adapt to Army life, maintaining the common theme of the film.

Wilson herself has been on fire lately, with her hit show “Super Fun Night” on ABC and a recent string of successful movie roles. Her films include, “Pitch Perfect,” “Ice Age: Continental Drift,” and “Bridesmaids,” along with upcoming roles in “Night at the Museum 3,” “Pitch Perfect 2,” and “Kung Fu Panda 3.” She also takes an active role in and producing her own , with a couple in early stages of at the moment.

is set to produce, and and are overseeing for the New Line. No word yet on who the team is eyeing to direct the film, but stay glued to The Tracking Board for more updates on this hot project that’s sure to make some waves!
