Offers are out for THE PERFECT GUY, a revenge thriller about a man’s inability to let go after a steamy love affair. Michael Ealy, Sanaa Lathan, and Morris Chestnut have been offered leading roles, and Screen Gems is producing.
The script was penned by former US Prosecutor Barbara Curry, who has recently broken into the film industry with “The Boy Next Door” for Universal Pictures and “The Jury” over at Fox 2000. Her script centers on a woman who meets an I.T. expert who appears to be the perfect guy. After a sexually-charged relationship she discovers the violent side to his nature and breaks up with him, but he can’t let it go, embarking on an insane revenge plot.
Ealy has been in four previous films produced by Screen Gems, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he ends up taking the offer. His collaborations with them include the recent “About Last Night,” “Think Like A Man,” “Underworld: Awakening,” and “Takers.” He has also been in Will Smith’s “Seven Pounds” and “2 Fast 2 Furious” among others.
Sylvain White is currently slated to direct, but it looks like the studio wants one more re-write before they go into production. James Lopez and Clint Culpepper are executive producing for Screen Gems, and the film is currently planning to shoot in the Los Angeles area.
