We’re hearing that Sony is eyeing Reese Witherspoon to star opposite Adam Sandler in their White House comedy FIRST MAN. Witherspoon would be stepping in to play the President of the United States, to the first ever “first man” (husband of the president) in Sandler. The project, which is currently being revived at the studio is also actively on the hunt for a new writer and director, with plans to re-develop the project around their leads. Witherspoon, who last starred in “Mud” and “This Means War” and Sandler, last seen in “Grown Ups 2”, both currently have dozens of projects in development, so the pairing up may not be enough to push this one into production. Look for the studio to fast-track the hunt for a director if Witherspoon officially signs on.
Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison are also producing the project.
Random fun fact: These two both previously starred in the 2000 flop “Little Nicky”. Lets hope this outing is a bit more enjoyable.
