Warner Bros. has landed the hot new sci-fi thriller spec GARDEN AT THE END OF THE WORLD from writer Gary Graham. The spec, which was bought in a preemptive deal, is being kept under wraps, but the storyline is being pitched as a gritty contained western in vein of John Wayne’s ‘The Searchers’ with sci-fi elements. Roy Lee and his Vertigo Entertainment will produce alongside Brooklyn Weaver, his Energy Entertainment and Jonathan Krauss. Ian Puente will executive produce.
For Weaver, who earned TB’s 2013 Manager of the Year Award, this marks his 4th spec sale for 2014, which follows up his astounding 14 in 2013. In 2014, he’s now set up “Terrestrial” with Lionsgate, “Slingshot” with Benaroya and “A Better Place” with Fox. Previously, Weaver paired up with Lee to produce the Liam Neeson starrer “Run All Night” for Warners, and with Krauss to set up the TB Launch Pad spec “Tranquility Base” with Fox.
The deal was represented by attorney Jeff Frankel of McKuin Frankel Whitehead LLP.
