I just got wind that Katherine Heigl has jumped aboard Ami Canaan Mann’s YOUR RIGHT MIND. The “Knocked Up” star is the first to join the romantic comedy’s cast.
The story follows a single mother as she struggles to maintain custody of her only daughter. When a train-hopping musician enters her life though, the two decide to overcome their circumstances with a powerful relationship that is sure to change both of their lives forever. Heigl will star as the single mom, Jackie. With noteworthy talent such Mann and Heigl being attached though, I’m sure more casting news will be popping up shortly.
Mann is helming from a script she also penned. Todd J. Labarowski is producing for Dreambridge Films. Molly Hassell is also producing.
Heigl got her start back in the early 90’s with supporting roles in Craig Bolotin’s “That Night” and Steven Soderbergh’s “King of the Hill.” Her first starring role was in Steve Miner’s “My Father the Hero”, but the role that launched her career came the following year with Geoff Murphy’s “Under Siege 2: Dark Territory” where she starred alongside Steven Seagal and Eric Bogosian. After a few more years packed full of feature film performances, Heigl landed a major recurring role on 20th Century Fox TV’s mystery series “Roswell.” The series lasted a total of 4 years with 61 episodes. Heigl spent the following 3 years back in film, but in 2005 the TV bug bit her again and she secured a major recurring role as Dr. Izzie Stevens on ABC’s hospital drama “Grey’s Anatomy.” While she was starring on that show, Heigl also had one of her best performances to date as Alison Scott in Judd Apatow’s “Knocked Up.” Towards the show’s end, she starred in Robert Luketic’s “The Ugly Truth” and “Killers”, the former being one of her best performances in my books. She most recently was seen in Justin Zackham’s “The Big Wedding” and will next be seen in Anthony Burns’ “North of Hell.”
Heigl is repped by CAA.
