Hollywood mega-director, Willy Wyler, battles against anti-Semitic politicians who wish to prevent movies from encouraging America’s entry to World War II.
Wyler is simply a script that ticks all the boxes. From the exquisite descriptions and writing, to the scintillating dialogue; it all comes together to create a special script that’s a joy to read. And I believe could be turned into a movie that would be well received all over the world. Hollywood loves making movies about golden era Hollywood, and this time we get one that goes beyond the superficial and examines how that world dealt with the greatest threat known to modern society – World War 2. As Wyler himself said, “The most powerful message in the world falls on deaf ears in an empty theatre.” And thanks to his entertaining and meaningful life, and the writer’s superb ability to dramatize the retelling of it, that won’t be the case here. We have a highly entertaining yet thoroughly thought-provoking film that Hollywood would love to make, and the rest of the world would love to see (not to mention plenty of parts that actors would love to play). Studios would be wise to snap up this gem.
