Terry Rossio is set to write YUCATAN for Warner Bros. and Team Downey. The crime thriller will be based on a 1700-page treatment written by actor Steve McQueen, which was found by his son after his death. The epic project centers on a group of thieves who head to Mexico to find a treasure buried for centuries beneath the Yucatan peninsula. Paul Scheuring, Tony Peckham, and Steven Chin have all taken passes at the script, which is being envisioned as a starring vehicle for Robert Downey Jr.
Rossio’s latest feature writing projects have mostly been Johnny Depp films, including The Lone Ranger and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, as well as most of the rest of the Pirates franchise. His upcoming projects include penning the adventure project Lightspeed and producing Paul Hernandez’s Instant Karma.
Rossio is repped by CAA.
