Tessa Thompson has joined the cast of Marvel’s THOR: RAGNAROK. She is set to play the God of thunder’s love interest, who is also a superhero of some sort.
This will mark Thompson’s first foray into the comic book universe — and it won’t be her last. Thompson is expected to appear in additional Marvel movies after Thor: Ragnarok. The story of the third installment of the franchise is currently being kept under wraps, but it will follow the titular superhero played by Chris Hemsworth after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron.
In addition to Hemsworth, Thompson will join an all-star cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Jamie Alexander, Mark Ruffalo, and Lou Ferrigno. What We do in the Shadows director Taika Waititi is set to helm the film which is slated for a Nov. 3, 2017 release date.
Thompson recently impressed audiences with her role in Creed, directed by Ryan Coogler, who is also set to make his Marvel debut with Black Panther. She has also appeared in Selma and delivered a lauded performance in the polarizing Dear White People. She starred opposite Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena in War on Everyone, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year. She is also attached to star in Alex Garland’s sci-fi film Annihilation alongside Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Gina Rodriguez and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
She is repped by Greene & Associates Talent Agency.
