Teyonah Parris is in talks to enlist in the Christine Swanson-directed BUFFALO SOLDIER GIRL. Inspired by historical events, the story follows a woman who disguises herself as a man to fight as a “buffalo soldier” in the African American Post Civil War era.
The project reunites Swanson and Parris who worked together on Love Under New Management: The Miki Howard Story, which will be released later this year. Best-selling author, Sarah Bird wrote the script and the film will be produced by Pantheon of Women, which was founded by Alicia Goodrow, Donna Fijimoto Cole, and Deborah Kainer.
Parris recently starred in Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq and in Five Nights in Maine with David Oyelowo and Dianne Wiest. Her previous credits include AMC’s Mad Men, Dear White People and They Came Together.
She is repped by Agency for the Performing Arts.
