Ryan Eggold is staying in the NBC family after exiting action drama The Blacklist, and will star in a new untitled medical drama pilot for the network.
Inspired by Dr. Eric Manheimer’s memoir Twelve Patients: Life & Death at Bellevue Hospital, the project is described as a character-driven medical drama that revolves around the new director of Bellevue Hospital (played by Eggold), whose maverick approach disrupts the status quo while always prioritizing patient care.
Eggold joins the previously cast Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman and Anupam Kher.
David Schulner is writing and executive producing, with Peter Horton directing and also serving as an EP along with Eric Manheimer.
Eggold played the character of Tom Keen on NBC’s The Blacklist from the pilot, and was even given his own spinoff series, The Blacklist: Redemption. That show was canceled after one season, with Eggold returning to the mothership show to reprise his role. The actor exited the show for good when his character was killed off in the currently-airing fifth season.
He is repped by Gersh and Management 360.
