Joel and Ethan Coen have found their next movie. Warner Bros. has optioned the Ross MacDonald’s best-selling crime novel BLACK MONEY for the brothers to write and potentially direct. The story centers on private eye Lew Archer, who is hired by an ex-lover to expose the man who has run off with his client’s girlfriend, becoming embroiled in a conspiracy involving a suicide and gambling debts.
The duo recently wrapped production on show-biz satire Hail Caesar! with George Clooney, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonah Hill. They also scripted Steven Speilberg’s upcoming Bridge of Spies, starring Tom Hanks.
Joel Silver will produce through his Silver Pictures Entertainment shingle. Steve White will executive produce. Next up for Silver is action-thriller Autobahn starring Nicholas Hoult, Ben Kingsley, and Anthony Hopkins, and the Shane Black-directed The Nice Guys.
The Coen brothers are repped by UTA.
