On Friday, January 29th, the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts announced the winners of its 5th annual International Awards. With five nominations including for Best Film, The Weinstein Company’s Carol led the pack, landing a nod in essentially every category for which it was eligible. Close behind, Paramount’s The Big Short landed four nominations. Warner Bros’ Mad Max: Fury Road, Fox’s The Revenant, and Fox’s The Martian each earned three nods, but Open Road Films’ Spotlight rounded out the nominees for Best Film over The Martian.
