“The Crown” Season 2 Will Hit Netflix on December 8, But You Can Watch the New Trailer Now (Video)



Claire Foy wowed the critics and historical drama fans with her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in ’s first season of , and it’s set to premiere its second season on the streaming network this fall on December 8.

Based on Peter Morgan’s award-winning play, The Audience, which featured The Queen‘s Oscar winner Helen Mirren in the role of the Queen, the second season will cover the 1960s and Elizabeth’s relationship with John and Jackie Kennedy, as played by Michael C. Hall and Jodi Balfour. Matthew Goode is also joining the cast as Princess Margaret’s husband, Tony Armstrong-Jones.

Vanessa Kirby will be returning as Princess Margaret, as will the former Doctor Who, Matt Smith, as the Duke of Edinburgh.

After winning two Golden Globes last year, the show has been nominated for 13 Emmys, including for Outstanding and nominations for Foy and John Lithgow’s Winston Churchill.  Director Stephen Daldry and writer Peter Morgan have also been nominated, plus a number of technical awards.
