“The Crown’s” Vanessa Kirby to Join “Mission: Impossible 6” in Lead Role

The Impossible Missions Force (IMF) has found its new leading lady. of Netflix’s The Crown is in final talks to join MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 as the female lead.

The plot for the sixth installment of the franchise is being kept under wraps, but Rogue Nation writer-director Christopher McQuarrie is returning to once more pen the screenplay and helm the newest film. After problems plagued pre-, Tom Cruise is officially returning as Ethan Hunt, alongside Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner, and Simon Pegg, although it’s not yet known what capacity the supporting characters will fill out this time around.

The film franchise has seen tremendous success since its inception, but especially with the last two films, as well as with its female leads. Thandie Newton of MI2 is now a lead character in Westworld and Rogue Nation‘s Ferguson has gone on to appear in Florence Foster Jenkins and The Girl on the Train.

Kirby received rave reviews for her performance as Princess Margaret in The Crown. Most recently, she appeared in the films Me Before You and as Zelda Fitzgerald in Genius. She’s represented by and .
