The CW is officially developing a drama series based on the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise. While details are scarce, the series will be set in the present and focus on the residents of Crystal Lake as they are forced to confront the return of the infamous killer, as more secrets of his origins surface.
The project has been in the works since last year, when Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Crystal Lake Entertainment signed a deal to produce a hour-long dramatic series based on the franchise. The adaptation will be written by Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle, who created the 1996 NBC drama series The Pretender.
The long-running franchise is now comprised of 13 movies, with the most recent being 2009’s Marcus Nispel-directed Friday The 13th.
Mitchell and Sickle are repped by Paradigm.
