The highly anticipated adaptation the Stephen King series, THE DARK TOWER has added young up and comer Tom Taylor to the cast.
Taylor will join Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, who were recently confirmed as the leads of the movie. Abbey Lee from Mad Max: Fury Road is also attached to star. Taylor will play the pivotal role of Roland Deschain’s (Elba) protege, Jake Chambers. The first installment will focus on establishing the relationship between the two.
The Sony Pictures project is being set up as an expansive franchise on the big screen and television and is co-financed by Media Rights Capital. Nikolaj Arcel is set to direct and wrote the script based on previous drafts by Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinker. King will serve as a producer. Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, and Erica Huggins of Imagine Entertainment as well as Akiva Goldsman of Weed Road will also produce. The movie is slated for a Feb. 17, 2017 release date.
Taylor is known for his role in the British TV series Doctor Foster. His other TV credits include The Last Kingdom and Legends. The Dark Tower will mark his feature film debut.
