Universal Pictures anticipated JURASSIC WORLD sequel continues to assemble its cast as Daniella Pineda has been tapped to star. She joins returning castmembers Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, and previously announced cast Rafe Spally, Toby Jones and Justice Smith.
Plot details are currently being kept under wraps. The film is being directed by J.A. Bayona and written by Colin Trevorrow, who directed the last film, and Derek Connolly. Trevorrow also executive produces with Steven Spielberg. Frank Marshall, Pat Crowley, and Belen Atienza are producing, and Sara Scott is overseeing production for Universal.
The previous film took criticism for its female characterizations, most notably with lead Bryce Dallas Howard. Pineda’s addition helps give another opportunity for the sequel to correct this issue, as well as add another female role to the male dominated film.
Pineda is best known for her work on the TBS half-hour series The Detour and HBO’s High Maintenance. She can next be seen in the independent film Mr. Roosevelt.
