“Doctor Who” alum Matt Smith has joined the cast of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES. Lionsgate’s big screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s novel tells the timeless story of Elizabeth Bennet’s quest for love and independence…and zombies. Smith joins Lily James, Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote, and Douglas Booth in the Burr Steers-directed adaptation. Smith has signed on to play Mr. Collins, the family parson who wants to marry Elizabeth Bennett but instead marries her friend and neighbor Charlotte Lucas.
Smith made a name for himself playing the Eleventh Doctor on the revamped BBC series “Doctor Who.” Before that, he had a minor role with fellow “Who” alum Billie Piper on “Secret Diary of a Call Girl.” Since “Who,” Smith has shed his “nice guy” image by playing Patrick Bateman in the stage version of “American Psycho.” Next up Smith is set to star in Alan Taylor’s “Terminator: Genisys.”
