Executive producers of SUPERGIRL, THE FLASH, ARROW, and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW opened the floodgates to a wave of announcements for the popular DC superhero shows during the Television Critics Association press tour on Thursday.
The biggest announcement was that they would be taking advantage of the singing talents of Melissa Benoist, Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, and Jeremy Jordan of Supergirl and The Flash for not one, but two musical crossover episodes. In addition to pre-existing tunes, each episode will have one original song.
“Some of you may know my own personal love of musicals and actors who have been in them,” said EP Greg Berlant, “and we have a number of people who can sing across all the shows who will be making some very exciting appearances in the back half of the year.”
This crossover will be separate from the highly-anticipated Flash, Supergirl, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow massive crossover event set to air in November.
Other announcements made at TCA include Supergirl casting news which includes the addition of Sharon Leal as Miss Martian and the return of Christopher Wood as Mon-El. Andrew Kreisberg also announced that they will diversify the show by enlisting many aliens of color. He also revealed that one particular character will explore their sexuality.
Arrow will introduce the DC comics character Vigilante and will feature Dolph Lundgren in Russian flashbacks. Meanwhile, Legends of Tomorrow will welcome Lance Henriksen as Justice Society of America member Obsidian.
On The Flash side of things, season 3 will feature the previously announced villain Doctor Alchemy (Tom Felton) and the new baddie, the speedster known as Savitar.
