Catherine Zeta-Jones has landed a starring role in THE GODMOTHER. The crime drama follows female kingpin Griselda Blanco who became the first and only woman in history to head a major Colombian drug network. Blanco was at the center of the Miami drug wars and is suspected to have ordered hundreds of assassinations, earning her fearsome nicknames like La Madrina and the Cocaine Godmother. Eva Sorhaug will direct the film from a script written by Frank Baldwin.
Zeta-Jones is known for playing strong women in films after her roles in “Chicago,” “Entrapment,” and “No Reservations.” More recently, Zeta-Jones has starred in the action sequel “Red 2” and thriller “Side Effects.” Next up, Zeta-Jones has been cast in Richard Sears’ western “Texas Lullaby.”
