The Launch Pad Pilots Competition Presents…
Title: THE GREAT HOUSE
Logline: In this modern adaptation of JANE EYRE, a depressed teacher leaves her boring boarding school job to work as a private tutor to a rich teen at a lavish estate, where she soon encounters dark secrets and a handsome employer to complete her romantic literary fantasy.
Pitch: PRIVILEGED meets JANE EYRE
Writer: Camille Campbell
Genre: Comedy | Drama | Romance
Why to Read: This is a very fun, creatively stylized spoof of JANE EYRE and similar novels, combining gothic suspense with stately romance and re-upping it with a raunchy, R-rated present day California setting. The narrator is fun and well-utilized, the flashbacks are effective, and the writing is clear and efficient. Agnes is a great lead character, and Niki is a nice addition as a realistic twist on the petulant teenager archetype. Likable characters, lavish visuals, and a great comedic voice are just some of the strengths of this guilty pleasure dramedy.
