Oscar-nominated actor Demián Bichir is set to play Tom Holland’s adoptive father in Lionsgate’s CHAOS WALKING, the Tracking Board has confirmed.
Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow) is directing the adaptation of the bestselling YA novel by Patrick Ness.
The post-apocalyptic thriller is set in a dystopian world where nearly all women have been killed and there is no privacy, as all living creatures can hear one another’s thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds known as “the Noise.”
Holland will play a young man who crosses paths with a rare female (Daisy Ridley), who may have the power to change the world. Mads Mikkelsen is nearing a deal to play the ruthless local mayor on the hunt for the two leads.
Doug Davison, Allison Shearmur and Erwin Stoff are producing the sci-fi thriller, which will hit theaters on March 1, 2019. Charlie Kaufman, Jamie Linden, Matthew Lopez, Lindsey Beers, John Lee Hancock and Gary Spinelli all had a hand in writing the script.
Bichir earned an Oscar nomination for his devastating turn as a struggling father in A Better Life, which led to roles in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight and Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. The Mexican actor recently wrapped the Conjuring spinoff The Nun, which comes out next year.
Bichir is represented by CAA, and Deadline broke the news of his casting.
