Passengers director is swapping space for time as he is in talks to helm THE SHINING GIRLS. The feature is based on the thriller novel from Lauren Beukes.

Set up at MRC, the story revolves around a serial killer in 1930s Chicago who stumbles upon a time traveling device.

Appian Way brought the property to MRC and initially attached Danny Boyle to write the pic before he eventually left the project. MRC and Appian are developing and financing the film, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran producing.

After receiving an Academy Award nomination for directing The Imitation Game, Tyldum signed on to direct Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in Passengers, which is currently in post-. The film is set aboard a spacecraft traveling to a distant colony planet, transporting thousands of passengers, and follows two people who awaken sixty years early.
