The -directed drama THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER starring has been picked up by at Cannes. This marks the second collaboration between the actor and director who worked together on The Lobster which was also acquired up by last year at Cannes.

Lanthimos co-wrote the screenplay for The Killing of a Sacred Deer with Efthymis Filipou. and from will produce while Film4 and New Sparta Films are set to finance.

The story is inspired by a Euripides tragedy and follows a charismatic surgeon named Steven and a teenage boy who wants to bring him into his dysfunctional and fractured family. The teenage boy’s intentions become increasingly evil which forces Steven to make an unexpected sacrifice.
