Based on David Grann’s novel of the same name, the film will tell the true story of British explorer Col. Percy Harrison Fawcett who went on many Amazon expeditions with the hope of discovering a mysterious lost civilization. In 1925 he ventured into the jungle with his son one final time, a trip from which neither returned. Roles have not been confirmed, but I’m guessing Cumberbatch will star as Fawcett, while Pattinson plays his son. Gray is helming from a script he penned himself. Brad Pitt (who was previously attached to star) will be producing alongside Dede Gardner, Jim Seibel and Bill Johnson.
Pattinson was last seen in Bill Condon’s “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part Two” and David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis.” He’ll next be appearing in David Michôd’s “The Rover”, Werner Herzog’s “Queen of the Desert”, Jesper Ganslandt’s “Mission: Blacklist” and will be re-teaming with Cronenberg for “Maps to the Stars.”
Pattinson is repped by WME.
