Since moving to Hulu for its fourth season, THE MINDY PROJECT has received generally positive reviews and been able to push boundaries in directions they couldn’t before when they aired on Fox. The show, which will return for its fifth season on October 4, is set to continue this path, joined by two new recurring cast members: Bryan Greenberg and Rebecca Rittenhouse.
Greenberg will take on the role of Ben, a pediatric nurse who has to deal with Mindy and her son, Leo, and his ever-changing illnesses. It will be interesting to see how Nurse Morgan (Ike Barinholtz, who also writes for the series) responds to all of this — not to mention Chris Messina’s Danny, who’s returning to the show but not as a series regular. Likely, audiences won’t see him much involved with all of this, just as he wasn’t in Season 4.
Also throwing some drama into the mix will be Rittenhouse as Anna, a new, slightly evil doctor in the office who will be positioned as a foil to Mindy. She’s young, put together, and bound to provide some entertaining situations.
In the Season 3 finale, Mindy reunited with ex Danny, with both of them exchanging “I love yous,” as an invitation to Danny’s upcoming nuptials continued to unknowingly sit on Mindy’s kitchen counter. Then, Mindy was surprised by Jody’s big, romantic, if also a little intense, gesture of purchasing the apartment above hers as more space for her and baby Leo, leaving Mindy torn between the two men.
Greenberg is known for his stints on television shows like One Tree Hill and HBO’s How to Make it in America, as well as appearing in films such as Friends with Benefits and Vice.
He is repped by Gersh and Ellen Meyer Management.
Rittenhouse appeared in all episodes of ABC’s Blood & Oil series, as well as FOX’s Red Band Society.
She is repped by Gersh.
