Actor-director Nick Cassavetes has been tapped to helm New Line Cinema’s upcoming dramedy HONEYMOON WITH HARRY. Pitch creator Dan Fogelman is writing the current draft of the script, which is based on Bart Baker’s novel of the same name.
The story focuses on a former womanizer whose fiancée tragically dies in a car accident right before their wedding and so he takes the honeymoon with his fiancée’s father. The trip provides the two a chance to reconcile their differences. Robert de Niro, Bradley Cooper, and Rachel McAdams were all previously attached to star.
Mike Karz of Karz Entertainment and Josie Rosen of Gulfstream Pictures are co-producing the project, with Russell Hollander set as executive producer.
Cassavetes’ last film was 2014’s The Other Woman starring Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann and Yellow, which he wrote and directed, and premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in 2012. He’s also directing Mulkey for New Line, about the life of Louis Mulkey, as well as the Road House remake for MGM.
