Joseph Morgan has found his follow-up to The Originals, which ends after the upcoming fifth season on The CW – he will take on the Casey Affleck role in Fox’s GONE BABY GONE drama pilot.
The untitled drama series follows private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro. Armed with their wits, their street knowledge and an undeniable chemistry, they right wrongs the law can’t in the working-class Boston borough of Dorchester.
Morgan will play the role of Patrick Kenzie, one half of Kenzie and Gennaro Investigations, “Dorchester’s Best Missing Persons.”
Robert Levine is writing and executive producing with Dennis Lehane, the author of the Gone Baby Gone novel, also serving as an EP.
The novel was first adapted into a feature film in 2007, co-written and directed by Ben Affleck and starring Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan as Kenzie and Gennaro.
Gone Baby Gone is one of only four drama pilots picked up by Fox thus far this development season. It will compete for a slot along with Josh Safran’s Mixtape, plus untitled dramas from Ilene Chaiken and Danny Strong.
Morgan is coming off of five seasons of The Originals on The CW. He originated the role of Klaus on The Vampire Diaries before that. He is represented by WME and manager Richard Konigsberg.
