The CW’s programming is in a good place right now, but they’re still on a journey towards gaining wider audiences, both young and old, beyond its original 18-34 female demo.
The CW really doesn’t have much room on its schedule. With America’s Next Top Model gone, and The Vampire Diaries heading into what is likely to be its last season, they might be looking at 2-3 new dramas. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just picked one.
Riverdale is a lock. Other than that, I’m rooting for Frequency and Transylvania. In my books, they’re both tied for second place for different reasons. Frequency feels like nothing else on the CW, and might just be the sort of move that undoes its years of narrowcasting and pulls in viewers from other networks. Transylvania is entertaining as hell, and has the potential to become a solid female-driven companion to Supernatural.
