This is a tough network to pick, as they have so many pilots, and almost all are good but not great. Let’s get the multi-cam discussion out of the way first: I think they’d give a slight edge to Household Name over The Single Dad Project, though multi-cams are incredibly performance dependent. Libby and Malcolm just feels like a show, despite a few of my misgivings on throwing them in the same workplace. Raised by Wolves feels different enough as an anti-American Housewife, and I think it meets Dungey’s request for a show more reflective of Middle America. For a final pick, the one I probably have the least faith in, I’ll go with Losing It over Start Up and The Mayor, as I think “family comedy” still probably trumps “new job comedy” as a focus at ABC. But again, these are very tough decisions this year.
