The directing duo have been the rumored choice to helm the climactic two-parter, but Badass Digest has reported that Anthony Russo and Joe Russo have finalized their deal to direct Marvel’s INFINITY WAR PART 1 and 2.
Back in November, the Captain America: Civil War directors were poised as Marvel’s prime candidates to helm the third and fourth Avenger’s flick after Joss Whedon announced that Age of Ultron would be his last, but this would mark the first confirmation from the studio. A press release from the studio will likely drop soon with the news.
The film’s are currently without a writer, but word is that Marvel is courting Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the scribes who wrote all three Captain America movies and contributed to Thor: The Dark World and helped to create Agent Carter.
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 films are scheduled for release in May 2018 and May 2019.
The Russo brothers made their feature directorial debut with Captain America: The Winter Soilder and will be directing the follow-up, Civil War. The directing duo previously helmed episodes of television comedies such as Community, Happy Endings, and Arrested Development. The directors are currently in the conversation to direct Sony’s male-led Ghostbusters project, which is rumored to star Channing Tatum.
