AMC’s THE WALKING DEAD has shut down production following an accident suffered by stuntman John Bernecker Thursday.
“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for ‘The Walking Dead’ and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set,” AMC said in a statement. “He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
According to Variety, Bernecker fell more than 20 feet and landed on concrete, suffering a head injury. The stuntman had to be transported to a nearby hospital via helicopter.
Bernecker is a seasoned stunt performer based in Atlanta, and his other recent projects include Marvel’s upcoming Black Panther, TNT series Claws and Fox’s recent 24: Legacy reboot.
