The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun has joined the cast of Bong Joon-Ho’s OKJA, the sequel to 2013’s Snowpiercer. Yeun joins a cast anchored by Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, and Lily Collins. The script is from Bong and Frank screenwriter Jon Ronson.
Okja follows Mija, a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named Okja. Mija will be played by Seohyun An. The film will be shot in South Korea, Canada and the U.S., in English and Korean.
Netflix will produce alongside Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment and Lewis Pictures. The film is eyeing a theatrical release date in the first half of 2017.
Yeun recently signed on to star in the action thriller Mayhem from director Joe Lynch.
Yeun is repped by Paradigm and Gotham/Principal.
