When inherited, with permission from his widow, ’s proposed adaptation of 1969 short story “Super-Toys Last All Summer Long” and turned it into 2001’s A.I. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE there came complaints that Spielberg’s film was much more sentimental than Kubrick’s detached vision. But in this video essay from French filmmaker Candice Drouet we are shown how Spielberg included numerous visual references to the late director as an homage to his groundbreaking style.
