TIFF – Netflix Snags “Tramps” and Obama Feature “Barry”



Online network continued its shopping spree over the weekend as it picked up romantic-heist feature TRAMPS and Barak Obama drama BARRY.

Tramps follows a petty criminal and his driver who botch a drop-off and have to correct their mistake while learning to trust one another along the way. The film stars Callum Turner, Grace Van Patten, Mike Birbiglia, and Margaret Colin and was written and directed by Adam Leon.

Joshua Astrachan, David Kaplan, Andrea Roa, and Jamund Washington produced the film with Frederick W. Green, Michael B. Clark, Alex Turtletaub, Julia Godzinskaya, Sophie Vickers, and Michael Sackler executive producing. The film had several interested parties including A24, Sony Pictures Classics, and The Orchard.UTA and WestEnd repped the film.

Barry centers on a college-aged Obama in a coming-of-age story during his years at Columbia University. It stars Devon Terrell as the future president, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Mitchell, Ashley Judd, Ellar Coltrane, and Avi Nash. It was directed by Vikram Ghandhi with a script from Adam Mansbach.

The film is a joint of Black Bear Pictures and Cinetic Media, with Teddy Schwarzman, Ben Stillman, Dana O’Keefe, and Ghandhi producing.
