Paul Dano, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kelly MacDonald, and Bill Nighy are all poised to join Tilda Swinton in Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s next film, OKJA. Bong is known for Mother and the recent hit, Snowpiercer.
The details of the film are slim, but it will center on a Korean woman with several supporting English-speaking characters, whose scenes will all be shot in New York.
Oscar nominee Gyllenhaal has just had two hit films with Nightcrawler and Southpaw and is set to have another awards-season favorite in Demolition. He is repped by WME.
Macdonald has scene-stealing roles in almost every film she works on. Most recently she was a lead in the HBO hit, Boardwalk Empire, and she has the rare distinction of being one of the modern Disney princesses with her role as Merida in Brave. She is repped by ICM.
Nighy is probably best known for his role in Love Actually and his role as Davey Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. He is repped by CAA.
Dano just had a well-received turn as a younger Brian Wilson in Love & Mercy and broke out in 2006 with Little Miss Sunshine. He is repped by WME and Anonymous Content.
Swinton is the only actor officially committed to the film so far, but she’s never been in a film that did not have a stellar cast. She is set to the The Ancient One in Marvel’s upcoming Doctor Strange, and was wonderful in Bong’s Snowpiercer. She is repped by UTA.
