Franco’s film chronicles the troubled early years of writer Charles Bukowski, ranging from his abusive father and acne-scarred face to his early dabbles into alcoholism. Nelson will play Bukowski’s father.
Miles Levy and Vince Jolivette will produce.
“Homesman” centers on a rugged man and a pioneer woman who agree to guide three insane women on a wild journey from Nebraska to Iowa. Jones will also star in the film along with Hillary Swank and Meryl Streep. Nelson will play a man who tries to steal one of the women.
Jones will produce with Michael Fitzgerald.
Nelson starred in Spielberg’s Oscar-nominated pic “Lincoln” and has wrapped on several films including “Snake and Mongoose” and “Child of God”, which he also wrote and will feature Franco.
