A new photo released from Greg Berlanti’s newest DC superhero series TITANS has revealed Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly in character as their characters, Hawk and Dove.
The superhero suits, like the one for Brenton Thwaites’ Robin, were designed by renowned costume designer Laura Jean Shannon, who also designed the Black Lightning suit for Berlanti’s other new superhero series, premiering on The CW in January.
Titans, from Warner Bros. TV, is set to bow in 2018 as part of a new DC-centric direct-to-consumer digital service from the WB.
The show follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. Thwaites stars as Dick Grayson who emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven, Hawk, and Dove. Anna Diop will play Starfire, Teagan Croft has been cast as Raven. Ryan Potter is also part of the team as Beast Boy.
Hawk is often paired with Dove in the comics as the epitome of opposites attract. Hawk is temperamental and militant while Dove believes in non-violence and reason. In the comics, the creation of the duo was inspired by the emerging political divides of the 1960s. In the series, Ritchson and Kelly will have recurring roles with an option to become series regulars in season two.
The pilot was penned by Akiva Goldsman, Berlanti, and DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns. Berlanti, Goldsman, Johns, and Sarah Schechter are producing.
