UPDATE: Minka Kelly has been cast in the role of Dove.
Greg Berlanti’s latest DC series TITANS has added Alan Ritchson in the role of Hawk. The series from Warner Bros. TV is set to bow in 2018 as part of a new direct-to-consumer digital service from the WB.
The show follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. Brenton Thwaites stars as Dick Grayson who emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven, Hawk, and Dove. Anna Diop will play Starfire and Teagan Croft has been cast as Raven.
Hawk is often paired with Dove in the comics as the epitome of opposites attract. Hawk is temperamental and militant while Dove believes in non-violence and reason. In the comics, the creation of the duo was inspired by the emerging political divides of the 1960s. In the series, Ritchson will have a recurring role with an option to become a series regular in season two.
The pilot was penned by Akiva Goldsman, Berlanti, and DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns. Berlanti, Goldsman, Johns, and Sarah Schechter are producing.
This is Ritchson’s second role as a DC character having appeared as Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, on the WB-turned-CW series Smallville. He was most recently seen in the now-canceled Syfy series Blood Drive and on the big screen in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He is represented by UTA and Industry Entertainment.
