Hollywood veteran Tom Cruise has signed on to officially star for Universal’s upcoming sci-fi-action adventure, OBLIVION. Based on the comic book “Oblivion” written by Arvid Nelson from a story from the man who will direct the feature, Joseph Kosinski, it follows a soldier (Cruise) assigned to a future earth, who discovers a crash-landed spacecraft and becomes romantically entwined with the mysterious traveler. The screenplay was penned William Monahan with a rewrite from Karl Gajdusek. Cruise has been attached to the project since it’s inception at Disney, but was let go by the company with Universal stepping in and committing to distribute the $100 million picture.
Kosinski, Barry Levine, David Fincher, Dave Morrison and Jeffrey Silver are attached to produce.
Cruise is repped by CAA.
