is in discussions to play heroic Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in Clint Eastwood’s as of yet untitled biopic. Based on the memoir Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters by Chesley Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow, the pic follows the heroic true story of Airline Captain Chelsey Sullenberger, who safely landed U.S. Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in 2009, saving all 155 aboard.

Eastwood, who was long believed to star himself, will direct from a Todd Komarnicki script, which reportedly will also focus on the behind the scenes drama that almost cost Sullenberger his reputation.

Hanks is Hollywood’s go-to actor for real-life heroes, appearing in true-story dramas like Captain Phillips, Apollo 13, and Saving Private Ryan. He’ll next appear in Steven Spielberg’s political drama Bridge of Spies, which bows this October. The beloved actor is now currently shooting his return as Robert Langdon in Inferno, the third entry in Ron Howard’s Da Vinci Code film series, adapted from the Dan Brown novels.
