Filming for the eight-part event series TABOO has gotten underway this week in London for BBC One and FX as production adds Jonathan Pryce and Michael Kelly to the cast. The series stars Tom Hardy and was created by Steven Knight, who previously worked on Peaky Blinders together.
Hardy plays James Keziah Delaney who returns to 1814 London after 10 years in Africa to discover that he has been left a mysterious legacy by his father. Driven to wage war on those who have wronged him, Delaney finds himself in a face-off against the East India Company, whilst playing a dangerous game between two warring nations – Britain and America.
Kelly will play American doctor Dumbarton and Pryce will be Sir Stuart Strange, the head of the East India Company. They join Oona Chaplin and David Hayman.
The series is directed by Kristoffer Nyholm with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free London and Hardy’s Son & Baker producing. Sonar Entertainment is handling worldwide distribution outside of the UK. Scott and Kate Crowe will executive produce for Scott Free while Hardy and Dean Baker executive produce for Son & Baker. Knight will be executive producing while Timothy Bricknell is producing.
Kelly is best known for his work on Netflix’s House Of Cards and CBS series Person Of Interest. He can currently be seen in theaters opposite Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts in Secret In Their Eyes.
Pryce most recently has been starring in HBO’s Game Of Thrones as the High Sparrow and in theaters in Woman In Gold and Listen Up Phillip.
