Tom Hiddleston joins the ongoing musical chairs style of casting for CRIMSON PEAK. At one point Emma Stone was set to star but she dropped out and was replaced by Mia Wasikowska. Now, fresh on the heels of Benedict Cumberbatch leaving last week, Hiddleston comes galloping to the rescue. The British still gallop to the rescue right? Anyway, the cast also includes Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, Jim Beaver and Burn Gorman.
As for the story, that’s still being kept under wraps but Del Toro has said “This is a Gothic romance, haunted house, in the north of England.” There’s been other bits hinted at such as someone’s husband not being quite themselves, that kind of thing. While it’s certainly not another “Pacific Rim” (sad face), I’m still excited for Del Toro to get back to his R-rated horror roots.
Guillermo del Toro and Lucinda Coxon wrote the most recent draft that Del Toro will direct.
Hiddleston will probably be forever known as Loki from “Thor,” “The Avengers” and “Thor: The Dark World” but he has also appeared in Spielberg’s “War Horse” and Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris.” He’ll next turn up in aforementioned “Thor” sequel as well as Jim Jarmusch’s “Only Lovers Left Alive” and “Muppets Most Wanted.”
He is repped by WME.
