Tom Hiddleston will star in the looooooooooong gestating adaptation of HIGH RISE. Based on the book by J.G. Ballard, the story takes place within the concealing walls of an elegant forty-story tower block, where the affluent tenants, hell-bent on an orgy of destruction, take to action as cocktail parties degenerate into marauding attacks on ‘enemy’ floors and the once-luxurious amenities become an arena for technological mayhem, slowly reverting the rules of survival to the most base primal instincts of kill… or be killed.
Phew! It’s unclear what role Hiddleston will play but you can bet he’ll chew some scenery. Ben Wheatley (“The Kill List”, “Sightseers”) will direct the project while his wife/partner Amy Jump will write. Jeremy Thomas and Gabriella Martinelli will produce.
Hiddleston was last seen in “Thor: The Dark World” and will next be seen in “Only Lovers Left Alive” (for us non-festival goers) and “Crimson Peak.”
He is repped by WME.
